Very early 24 team Playoff Predictions (Stanley Cup Winner)
Welcome Back!
Well, well, well after months of closure due to covid-19, the NHL has finally took steps towards finishing up the 2019-2020 regular season.
In other news, TheHockeyPress is back. I don’t know what I am going to be posting on here, but I am always open to suggestions. DraftKings/FanDuel lineups will be back when games resume.
The 24 team plan
Gary Bettman spoke today regarding whats next for the NHL.
The plan going forward has training camps starting around mid July, meaning the games will be played hopefully sometime in August. Leaving plenty of hockey going into the fall.
Under the new circumstances, the league will use each team’s points percentage to determine the rankings. The Eastern Conference will have one hub city where all the games will be held, and same with the Western Conference in a different hub city. The hub city’s are still up for discussion but the possible destinations included; Toronto, Chicago, Edmonton, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Vancouver etc.
The top four clubs in each conference will play in seperate round-robin tournaments to determine seeding. The other eight teams in each conference will play in a best of five series to leave the league with 16 teams to advance to the 2019-2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
