Kevin Durant should sign with the San Antonio Spurs

Kevin Durant won't lose in the Western Conference Finals if he signs with the Spurs!

Kevin Durant is 48 hours away from choosing the team he wants to play for in 2016.  I believe his best path is to achieving his goal of winning a championship is playing with the San Antonio Spurs.  When you look at the Spurs roster he would be the leader of the offense and his unselfish style will really suit the Spurs. He will be playing alongside Kawhi Leonard and Lamarcus Aldridge giving the Spurs the best front court in the league. The Spurs already play elite defense and they are very solid on offense adding Kevin Durant makes them championship worthy.

It also makes sense from a financial standpoint as Texas has the lowest income tax in the United States of America.  Kevin Durant and Lamarcus Aldridge played for Texas and they almost played together. I believe what separates the Spurs from every NBA team is the system they run that Gregg Popovich helped develop. The Spurs in 2014 that won the NBA Finals relied on quick cuts and pick and roll leading to wide open threes. It was the foreshadowing of things to come in the new NBA and The Warriors one year later won with similar style. The point is with Russell Westbrook you have no clue what you will see out of him each night. When Westbrook knocks down threes and he is dominating the paint he almost impossible to stop with his amazing athleticism. However, he really struggles at getting his teammates involved in the offense and even Charles Barkley alluded to it during the Western Conference Finals. The new NBA is about team ball and it leads to championships.

I think the other thing that makes San Antonio appealing they can still keep most of their bench if they land Durant they will have party with Diaw, Green, and Mills. However, the Spurs have a great gem in Dejounte Murray and he seems like he will become the most athletic point guard in the the league and I believe he is the next Magic Johnson with some work on his game.  I also believe that Pau Gasol would be open to take a smaller discount to join in the Spurs if they land Durant. That would be a huge addition for the Spurs. The only team in the League the Spurs would have to be slightly concerned with in the Western Conference would be the Warriors. However, the Warriors will be at a huge disadvantage as the Spurs can go small ball or go big just like the Cavaliers did in 2016. Hopefully, Kevin Durant signs with the Spurs and he will finally win his first championship and become a legend.
