The New York Yankees should consider rebuilding at the Trade Deadline
I am a fan of the New York Yankees and they have a rich tradition of winning. The Yankees future looks bright when watching these young players compete. However, the Yankees this year have been very inconsistent and they are currently one game under 500. Right now the Yankees are in a hard place to be a middle of the road team with some solid pieces to build around. I keep hoping they will pick up the pace and go on a huge winning streak and they have had some bright spots this year. I believe if that happens before the Trade Deadline then they should keep the players the have and maybe try and add a solid pitcher to the rotation.
The Yankees have the best bullpen in the MLB and they seem to be following the Royals path to the championship. I think the Yankees should try to trade for some contact hitters if they can turn the season around. I still am holding out hope that they can but time is quickly running out. The Yankees need to stop under-performing and perform at their highest level. The next couple weeks will determine the course of the Yankees season. The New York Yankees have pressure mounting this stretch and hopefully they exceed expectations.
However, if the Yankees go another long losing streak or start slumping. The time to add prospects will be needed more than ever before. I know Carlos Beltran wants to stay in New York and I commend his loyalty to the Yankees. However, he is 39 years old with his trade value extremely high. I also think the Yankees should consider trading Aroldis Chapman if the price in the right ballpark. However, I do believe the one expectation to trading Aroldis is if he commitments to the Yankees long term.
The Yankees have their plate full this year before the deadline. I hope they look at the situation pragmatically and consider what is best for the future plan. I am not sure taking on a couple one year rentals will help the Yankees get any better and yet in Baseball anything can happen. I am not advocating they sell the farm to get some of those pieces unless they believe they can win the championship. I do believe the best years for the Yankees was in the 90's when they build homegrown talent. I am very curious on how the trade deadline will play out should the Yankees be buyers or sellers at the deadline sound off below?
