Melo Camp @ Baruch College Manhattan

He has an NCAA national championship under his belt, several awards as a rookie in the NBA, and is on the brink of making history by competing in his fourth Olympics. With an extensive resume like that, Carmelo Anthony still finds time to prioritize being a mentor to the generations to come.

In Spetember Anthony teamed up with Procamps and hosted a fantasy basketball camp at Baruch College in Manhattan. There he was able to interact with the campers and inspire them with few simple tips.

I had a chance to ask him about his foundations and what they have done this summer. He proudly shared the how busy they have been and how he has been reaching out to the market in Puerto Rico.

“We’ve been doing a lot especially in this off season. We’ve been in Puerto Rico, donated a couple of courts here in New York. And right now I think we have ten or eleven courts from New York all the way down to Puerto Rico. So you know, I’m excited about that and where we can go with it. And Puerto Rico is a big big market for this.”

He encourages kids to channel their free time to sports in neighborhoods and areas of the world that are near and dear to him; including his hometown of Red Hook Brooklyn and the New York City area. Along with Baltimore Maryland where he spent his high school years, Anthony stays close to his heritage in Puerto Rico.

“I just love being around them,” Anthony says of his campers. “They [the kids] haven’t asked any crazy questions yet, but I know they’re coming at the end; like when am I coming back and can I still dunk.”

At the end of the camp, he thanked the parents for allowing him to be a role model for him. He expressed how happy he is to be able to be in a position to give back.

"If it wasn't for other people giving back when I was a kid I wouldn't be here. So it's very important for me to give back"
