Future Lancer joins the 1,000 point club

Earlier this year, Kyannah Stull signed to continue her athletic career playing basketball at Grace College.  Earlier tonight, she broke the John Glenn High School single-game scoring record by scoring 46 points in a win over Riley.  She also reached a career milestone, scoring her 1,000th career point in tonight's game.

Stull also scored her 1,000th career point in the 1st quarter of the 94-36 win.  The 1,000th career point came off of a 3 pointer that was assisted by Mariah Plunkett.  This extended the Falcons lead to 23-4 on a 19-0 run.  The game stopped to honor the impressive career accomplishment.  Stull was given a basketball to commemorate  the once-in-a-lifetime achievement.  Kyannah Stull also scored 17 points in the first 4 minutes of play.

Overall, Stull went 17/27 from the field and 6/6 from the free throw line.  In the first quarter, Stull went 7/8.

After the game, Stull said, “It feels pretty great. I mean my teammates knew I was close to a thousand, and they just wanted to give me the ball. Before the game, they were probably more excited than I was about it. It just feels so good, knowing that everyone came and were so excited for me too.”

John Glenn head coach Kyle Armor said, “Honestly, we have not talked about (her hitting 1,000). It is one of those taboos. We don’t talk about it in the locker room. We don’t talk about it at practice. We have not talked about it. She doesn’t talk about it, but everyone knew. You know, we were all kind of nervous hoping that she would be able to get it soon. That way she could just play and have fun after this point, but we didn’t talk about it. They just went out and played. We figured she would be pretty close tonight, but we had no idea what was going to happen.”

The Grace College Lady Lancers take on arch rival Bethel College tomorrow at 1 pm at home.
