Blue and Gold Report: Syracuse
The new-look Irish head into East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday afternoon to take on the Syracuse Orange. On the first play from scrimmage, DeShone Kizer finds Equanimeous St. Brown for a 79-yard touchdown pass. Following the PAT, it's 7-0 Notre Dame.

Eric Dungey of Syracuse ran for a 3-yard touchdown. The Irish defense blocked the PAT and returned it to the end zone for two points. Notre Dame leads 9-6.
Kizer finds St. Brown for another TD on a 67-yard strike. Following the extra point by Justin Yoon, the Irish now lead 16-6. Kizer is 2-2 with 146 yards with 2 TD.

Eric Dungey finds Amba Etta-Tawo for a 72 yard touchdown pass through the air for Syracuse. 16-13 Notre Dame leads Syracuse.
C.J. Sanders returns the kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. We aren't even 5 minutes in and its already 23-13. This is the craziest 5 minutes of football that I have ever seen.

At the end of the first quarter, Notre Dame leads Syracuse 23-13. DeShone Kizer is 5-7 for 170 yards and 2 TD. St. Brown has 2 receptions, 2 TD, and 146 yards. For Syracuse, Eric Dungey is 10-13 through the air for 169 yards and a TD. The new-look defensive Irish are still have problems slowing down the Syracuse offense.
