4 Reasons Toronto Will Win the Stanley Cup

The Toronto Maple Leafs. The single greatest embodiment of sport mankind has ever seen. Sure it was impressive when humans discovered fire, built the pyramids, and invented the internet but competition has always been man’s greatest game. The Toronto Maple Leafs represent the epitome of competition. With the best collection of athletes in the world for over a century, the Leafs have inspired greatness across galaxies. Unfortunately, despite their commercial and critical acclaim they have not won a Stanley Cup in a long, bitterly long time. In fact as a lifelong Leaf’s fan I have not been privileged to see them in the Finals. Let us please take a moment of silence as I weep.

(Moment Shhhhhh)

Today in reflection of this historic team, the likes of which have inspired world leaders, peacemakers, and near perfect human beings (That’s right Wayne Gretzky grew up a Leafs fan). I have compiled a list of reason why Toronto will win the Stanley Cup and regrettably why they may never.

“More popular than Jesus? Sure we were, but The Beatles couldn’t touch the Leafs man. They’re on another level” - Paul McCartney

4 Reasons Toronto Will Win the Stanley Cup

1.The Fans Need It (Really, Really, Really Bad)

It’s been a while to say the least. Toronto’s been kind, sharing the wealth allowing other teams to succeed in order to grow the sport across North America. All while still holding the title of second most Stanley Cups. It’s time to be selfish again, the hockey world has forgot about Dre. Too often are the honorable Leafs the butt of a joke, too often the sacrifices they’ve made in order to allow other teams a glimpse of glory go unnoticed. It needs to stop, the fans deserve to be back on top. 48 seasons is more than enough time, we’ve waited, paid our dues and now it’s time to collect.

2. Incredible Prospect Pool

Toronto has the best prospect pool since Adam and Eve were drafted into paradise. With the number one draft pick Austin Matthews, joining standout rookies Mitchell Marner, William Nylander, and Morgan Rielly the league is shaking with anticipation.

3. Dedicated Staff

With the hiring of Mike Babcock, Lou Lamoriello, as well as changes within the scouting and analytical aspects of the organization the Maple Leafs have surrounded themselves with a dedicated team of professionals with one goal - The Cup.

4. Time is on our side

As the Rolling Stones sang on the single to their 12X5 album ‘Time is on my side, yes it is’. Leafs fans are the greatest fans in the world. Paul McCartney once said “More popular than Jesus? Sure we were, but The Beatles couldn’t touch the Leafs man. They’re on another level”. Leafs Nation is patient, we’ve been waiting, are waiting and will be here when they do win it.
