Eric Weddle Heads East

The three-time Pro Bowler, Eric Weddle, made a unanimous decision to take his talents to Ravens Nation early Monday afternoon.

The Baltimore Ravens offered him a four-year, $29 million contract deal  that will pay him $9 million in 2016 with $13 million guaranteed. This contract will make Weddle the second-highest paid  safety in 2016 behind Kansas City's Eric Berry, who is expected to make $10.8 million in the one year contract he signed with the Chiefs as a franchise player.

Eric Weddle was wanted by many, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys; but only one team grasped his full attention.

"I couldn't be more excited and pumped to be a part of a championship organization who wanted me from Day One," Weddle said via text.

Weddle is going to be a huge asset to this Baltimore defense. With LB Daryl Smith and DE Chris Canty out of the picture, Weddle's versatility will create some problems for the opposing teams.

Not only can Weddle play free safety, but he can also play linebacker, strong safety, middle of the field, and half-field. Let's just say he's every NFL defensive coach dream.

In his last season with the San Diego Chargers he started in 13 games while missing two games in late October due to a groin strain. He was then placed on injured reserve for the season finale after aggravating the injury. Weddle did everything within his power to get back healthy and play for the remainder of the season. He participated in workouts that included sprints on the sideline during practice after he was placed on IR. However, the Chargers weren't that all impressed.

Therefore, like the old saying goes, "one man's loss is another man's gain." Well in this instance "one team's loss is another team's gain."
