In the land of the orange, white, and black the birds are free to fly wherever  the sky may take them; and they've made it very clear how far they want to go.

It hasn't been pretty for the  Orioles over the past few months; however during these past few days the Orioles have proven their worth while moving up from fourth to second place over the past week. Trailing the New York Yankees by six games in the AL East division may be a bit tough to play catch up on, but let's face it, the O's have made a tremendous run to even give it a second thought to stop here.

If Chris Tillman continues to make magic happen on the mound, the Orioles will have no problem with achieving the wild card spot.

"I don't think confidence was ever an issue," Tillman said. "Early in the season it wasn't going well, but I felt like it was close. I felt like I was one pitch away at all times."

Tillman took a three-hitter into the ninth inning, Jonathan Schoop, and J.J Hardy homered and the Orioles swept the Atlanta Braves 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Baltimore tied a season high of 5 straight wins with their victory Wednesday night. With the help of Tillman winning six straight decisions, and going 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA in the last six starts, the Orioles are destined for greatness.

"Pitching like we've been pitching keeps your head in every game," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "I'll take my chances with that."

Baltimore has allowed only seven runs during it's winning streak, which includes its first sweep of Atlanta since 1999.

Schoop hit Foltynewicz's first pitch of the third inning over the wall in center field for a 1-0 lead, making that his seventh home run of the season.

Nick Markakis, one of Baltimore's nine year veterans, has been playing phenomenally on the other side against the Orioles. He was welcomed with open chants from both the fans and the players. Markakis grasped Atlanta's initial hit leading off in the fourth; however it wasn't enough to take over as it was wiped out on a double play. To end the game Markakis former player Hardy homered in the bottom of the half, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

These Oriole's are on a roll. Let's see if they keep this train chugging along.
