So long San Diego...

Well, it has become official. The Chargers have officially moved from the town of San Diego and are now relocating to the Los Angeles area. It seems Spanos and company have finally decided to stick it to the city of San Diego for not approving a new stadium. Was this the right move for a franchise that has not been competitive since the days of Ladanian Tomlinson? Be careful what you wish for Chargers because Los Angeles football fans will not be nearly as patient with you like the faithful you just left in the dust in San Diego. It is understandable why they would want to leave but the location they chose could not have been worse. The stadium in San Diego where they were playing was terrible. It was an old, rundown piece of garbage with one way in or out. It will be interesting to see how Los Angeles takes to these new Chargers. The Rams just made the move to the same area last season and numbers dropped once the town realized what they got from St. Louis. A mediocre squad with a sub .500 record head coach. The Chargers are looking for a new head coach after a 5-11 record and place to call home until the new stadium in Inglewood is built. For sports franchises to be successful in Hollywood, they need to have star power. The Rams drafted Jared Goff to be the new face of the franchise and had one of the better backs in Todd Gurley so there was some excitement for that team. Chargers bring an old Philip Rivers and one year wonder Melvin Gordon to the table. Nothing to really get excited for. Maybe Manti Teo can get catfished again by his imaginary lady friend to bring some excitement to the move. The Chargers must either make a splash and bring in a big name free agent this offseason or draft a big name to make themselves a draw to this town. Only time will tell how the LA Chargers will do after a few seasons in their new home but for now, they find themselves third on the LA football power list behind the LA Rams and the USC Trojans football program.
