Better match-up vs Better team

With their 115-105 victory the Boston Celtics will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. But the question is are the Celtics the better match-up for the Cavs than the Wizards? Winning a seven game series over the Wizards proves they are the better team than the Wizards, or does it prove they are a better match-up? One can argue that the Wizards would make for a much more competitive series for the Cavs than the Celtics, but we will never know.

After all many people believe that Michael Jordan wouldn't be 6-0 in the Finals if he just once played against Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets. The Rockets in those years couldn't get to the Finals but the team had a lot of success vs. Jordan's Bulls going 5-1 from 1991-93. But just 1-5 from 1996-98 after winning back-to-back championships themselves.

The NBA more than any other team sport is about match-ups. The Wizards big guards could give the Cavs a challenge. Can Boston score enough points against a Cavs team with so many weapons? Yeah, they scored enough to beat the Wizards and Bulls but the Cavs aren't the Wizards and Bulls.
