Dikembe Mutombo’s number 55 will no longer be worn in Denver.

Over the weekend, the Denver Nuggets retired the 4-time Defensive Player of the Year’s jersey. Mutombo, who was selected by the team with the fourth overall pick in 1991, played in Denver for 5 seasons. While there, he was selected for the All-Star game three times, and also helped the team make the playoffs twice (this includes the 1993-94 playoff run, where they upset the top-seeded Seattle Sonics). Mutombo also led the league in blocks 3 times while he was playing for the Nuggets.

Prior to the Nuggets facing off against the Portland Trailblazers (Denver loss 113-115 in overtime, if you’re wondering), they held a ceremony to retire Mutombo’s jersey. Check it out:

Mutombo averaged 12.9 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks with the Denver Nuggets. He was part of the 2015 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame class.
