Damian Lillard rightfully selected to be on the cover of NBA 2K21

The hype is building for the sports games releasing in the fall.

We have already learned that Lamar Jackson will grace the cover of Madden in just a couple of months and EA Sports has also announced that FIFA 21 - like Madden - is set to release on the current generation consoles and fans will get a free upgrade to the next-generation consoles if they choose to buy the PlayStation 5 or Xbox One X.

Although 2K Sports has not made that same guarantee, they have announced that Damian Lillard will be one of three players on the cover of this year's game.

"This is a special moment for me in my NBA career," Lillard said in a statement regarding the news. "I've been a fan of NBA 2K for years and love how they represent all aspects of basketball culture. I'm an avid 2K player, so I'm honored to join the other NBA greats who have been on the cover. I'm grateful to all my fans and can't wait for everyone to experience the game later this year."

Lillard has been with the Portland Trail Blazers for eight seasons now and is averaging 24 points per game over 607 games. Furthermore, he has started every game he has appeared in.

It's about time Dame makes it on the cover of 2K as he has been one of the best point guards in the league in real life and is a fan favorite in the virtual league as well.

I, for one, prefer Dame over players like Russell Westbrook or Donovan Mitchell because of his quickness and ability to drain three's.

He has been hovering around a 90 overall rating for several years and really deserves this honor. Like I said, there will be two more players revealed in the coming days who will be on the different editions of this year's title.
