Cleveland Browns are releasing Josh Gordon but why?

A very shocking news came out of the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, the team is releasing wide receiver Josh Gordon after six seasons as of Monday unless they receive any trade offers. Gordon returned last season, he had 18 receptions for 335 yards in one touchdown for the Browns in their 0-16 season. Gordon returned in the preseason and last week against the Steelers, he had just one catch for 17 yard touchdown. Gordon showed up late for practice on Friday according to NFL network Insider Ian Rapaport, than on Saturday he complained about his hamstring injury which will sidelined him when the Browns take on the Saints in Sunday. So now the Browns are fed up enough that they are going to release him but why?

Browns general manager John Dorsey stated that him and the Browns heavily invested in Josh Gordon and supported him through his troubles but said that their cane a point where they had to part ways and move on. Gordon had drug and alcohol problems and being suspend by the NFL for violating the league‘s substances abuse program on many occasion. Gordon missed both the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons before returning last year, Gordon’s injury or him being late for practice may have led the Browns to make the decision to finally part ways with him. Head coach Hue Jackson stated: He is not going to be with us, we wish him well, we are going to move on.

Josh Gordon will hit the free agent market Monday and which will still leave the door open for the Browns to sign Dez Bryant, rumor is that the Browns did meet with Dez earlier this week. Both sides met last month and on HBO Hard Knocks, Hue Jackson told Dez that The Browns are going to make the greatest turn around in the history of sports but Dez left without a contract. Now here are the Browns chance to add the former Dallas Cowboys receiver.
