Scott Coker Should Start Using Kimbo Slice In Bellator Kickboxing
Ever since Scott Coker became the president of Bellator in June of 2014 his top priority has been to acquire fighters that have recognizable names within the combat world in hopes of improving the TV ratings. One of the fighters that Scott has managed to acquire is Kimbo Slice, who as we all know became a recognizable name in the combat world because of the street fights he used to participate in. Scott brought Kimbo into Bellator with the idea that Kimbo was going to produce action packed fights that would hopefully end in a stoppage. While Kimbo has been able to get stoppages in his two Bellator fights he hasn't produced action packed fights since either he or his opponent has taken the fight to the ground because they perceived it as the easiest route to victory. For example, last night, Kimbo decided to take Dada 5000 down because he knew that Dada had little to no experience fighting off his back as a result of this Dada tried to use raw strength to get Kimbo off of him which increased his level of fatigue. The takedowns eventually helped Kimbo get the stoppage because Dada was so fatigued from defending takedowns and fighting off his back that Kimbo landed a punch with little power and Dada fell to the ground.
If these types of fights continue for Kimbo, fans eventually will stop watching because the ground is not his area of expertise. Therefore, it is better if Scott Coker puts Kimbo in kickboxing fights where fighting on the ground is completely eliminated. This will force him and his opponents to trade strikes thus creating an action packed fights with a greater chance for a stoppage. For this idea to be successful, Scott has to keep giving him legends and/or fighters who he can beat in hopes of maintaining the perception among casual fans that he has incredible power and can knock anybody out. This will give Scott an opportunity to be able to keep fan interest in Kimbo while at the same improving TV ratings for Bellator.
