The Dallas Cowboys Should Strongly Consider Drafting Christian Hackenberg

Over the past few months, most NFL pundits and media have projected Christian Hackenberg to be one of the worse quarterbacks and/or players in the 2016 draft. In fact, pro football focus has rated Hackenberg as the player most likely to bust at the NFL level because of his lack of accuracy throwing the football. According to their website, he had a "64.0 accuracy percentage" which " was the second-worst in all of college football". While pro football focus is right to voice their concerns about his accuracy, what they fail to recognize is that he was constantly under pressure throughout last season. During last season, every time he dropped back to pass he is under constant pressure from opposing defensives since the offensive line isn’t strong and/or quick enough to hold their blocks. As a result of this, Hackenberg did not have enough time to sit in the pocket and go thru his reads to make a good throw instead he would most of the time throw the ball to his first or second read immediately after snapping the ball to avoid a sack. This resulted in him being wildly inaccurate because he did not have the opportunity to properly set his feet and make an accurate throw.

As a result of this, one would assume that Hackenberg's best chance to succeed in the NFL is if he gets drafted by the Dallas cowboys. Since the cowboys currently have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL which allows can give quarterbacks like Hackenberg ample time to set their feet in the pocket and go thru their reads to make a good throw. This is because most of the cowboys offensive lineman have very good foot speed and lateral quickness which allows them to match step for step with their defenders and enables them to keep their arms in front of them.

If the cowboys decided to draft Hackenberg and are able to maintain the offensive line intact they will have drafted a quarterback who has enough arm strength to make all throws and can be as accurate as most quarterbacks if he can get ample time to sit in the pocket
