Rumour Mill: Kings Have Options Now Quick Is Possibly Out For Months

It is a nightmare when your best goaltender goes down with an injury in the season opener.

Well, that's what happened to the Los Angeles Kings.

During the season opener against the San Jose Sharks, starting goalie, Jonathan Quick suffered a groin injury in the first period.

Speculations are suggesting that Quick s going to be on the sidelines for months.

Now the Kings have to look at their options to see what is the best way to fix their goaltending problem.

As of now, backup goalie, Jeff Zatkoff has taken over net minding duties.  The Kings have also called up Peter Budaji from the Minors.

Peter Budaji?  He's still playing?  I thought he was retired.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post suggests that Quick's injury quite possibly be a solution to the New York Islanders goaltending problem.  The Islanders have a logjam when it comes to goaltending.

Brooks suggests that the Kings quite possibly try to acquire Jaroslav Halak or Thomas Greiss.  I think Halak probably be the best goalie for the Kings to go after.  After his fantastic performance at the World Cup Of Hockey tournament last month, he's now amongst the best goalies in the league.

Another option is acquiring Ondrej Pavelec from the Winnipeg Jets.  The Jets recently sent Pavelec to the Minors.
