Capital One Cup Quarter-final 4 + Semi-final draw

Last night, Liverpool were hoping for there 22nd qualification for the semi-finals in the Capital One Cup. They were playing Southampton away at St Mary's in the quarter final. If Liverpool win then it would mean that they join Manchester City,Everton and Stoke in the all premiership semi-finals. The reds would also get a step closer to winning silverware under Jurgen Klopp for the first time, what Rogers never did.

Well it didn't start of well for the reds at all going 1-0 down after just 40 seconds. Southampton continued to put the pressure on for 20 minutes until Liverpool got a break-through with Allen assisting Sturridges brilliant goal. His goal was well deserved since skilled up three Southampton defenders and then shot and hit the post and went in. So the scores were level again,1-1. Liverpool continued to be at bit defensive, let Southampton run at them until Emre Can won the ball superbly and whipped it in from around the half way line, over 4 Southampton defenders to Sturridge to tap in the net and he did just that. What an assist for Emre Can but also two goals from the man thats returned from a season long injury and his second goal in four minutes. 2-1 inside the half hour mark. Then, just before half time Moreno took a wonder strike from five metres outside the penalty box and it deflected of Origi and went in. It was a brilliant goal and Moreno's 4th assist this season. It was Origi's 2nd goal for Liverpool. At half time the score was LFC 3 SOT 1.

The first 23 mins of the first half was mainly all Liverpool possesion with them making runs and having shots on goal until they finally had a brakthrough when Jordan Ibe gave Origi a magnificent through ball and he scored right in the top right corner. Wonder strike for Origi 4-1 LFC. Liverpool carried on with the high quality attacking pressure and they were rewarded with a goal from the 19 year old Ibe just five minutes later making the score 5-1 LFC. In the last five minutes Liverpool had another breakthrough and scored again. What an assist by a usual reserve player Brad Smith to Origi right on the head. Magnificent teamwork. The final score at St Mary's was 6-1 to the visitors Liverpool who are currently on fire! They have won 16 of there last 17 games and have qualified for the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup. It was a very good comeback for Sturridge scoring his first two debut goals since injury. We also saw unexpected awsome play from the young French striker Origi who showed the Liverpool fans that he was also a finisher that can score some magnificent goals. So now Liverpool now have two well known strikers back on board and the arrival back of there vice-captain Henderson.

So now the Semi-final draws:

Manchester City vs Everton at Wembley on 05/01/16 first leg and Liverpool vs Stoke  at Wembley on 05/01/16 first leg.
