Sam's Grading the Pack Week 1: Aaron Rodgers is a Miracle Worker

0-107.

Zero wins, 107 losses. That was Green Bay's franchise record when trailing by 17 points in the 4th Quarter. Was.

1-107.

Green Bay's record when trailing by 17 points in the 4th Quarter after last night. One win, accomplished by the greatest quarterback of all-time.

I'll admit it, I wrote this game off at halftime. After seeing Aaron leave on a cart with a face eerily similar to the one seen after the 2017 collarbone fiasco, I turned to more Jameson. Then he came back out on the sideline. On came the helmet. Yes, the baaad man Aaron Rodgers was coming back into the game after taking a nasty shot to his knee. At this point, I don't even care if we mount an improbable comeback; I was satisfied just seeing #12 back out on the field. Then the magic of Aaron Rodgers began, and, well you know the rest...

OVERALL: C+

Offense: B- QB/RB: B+ WR/TE: B+ OL: D

Defense: C DL: C+ LB: C+ DB: C Special Teams: B

BEST GRADE: A+: Aaron Rodgers, QB; and Randall Cobb, WR

No surprises here for best grade. If I could give Rodgers a grade better than an "A+", I would. Last night was simply one of the greatest QB-led moments in football history, period. Randall Cobb's slick cutting up field led to a 75-Yard go-ahead touchdown with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. Cobb's final box score line was 9 Receptions for 142 Yards and that incredible touchdown. Not a bad way for a veteran slot receiver to start the year at all.

WORST GRADE: D-: Bryan Bulaga, RT; Justin McCray, RG; and DeShone Kizer, QB

I had concerns with the right side of the O-Line all offseason, and it was clear throughout the preseason that veteran Byron Bell was not the answer to our prayers. Bulaga looked a step off all game, and Khalil Mack tore him a new one. He was simply a liability in pass coverage, just like he's been for most of his career. Justin McCray filled in all over the O-Line last year and didn't look that good, but he simply didn't have any competition in camp this year and won a starting job at Right Guard. His mistakes led to the nasty hit on Aaron Rodgers, and many other backfield interruptions. Both big men might have to fight to keep their starting spots in practice this week. Their mental lapses in blocking is simply unacceptable. As far as our new backup gunslinger DeShone Kizer, he was sacked twice, fumbled and threw an interception while only completing four passes. His QBR? 4. That's horrible. I'm not saying I want Brett Hundley back, but he's not keeping his job for long if those are the types of performances we're going to see from him. Maybe there's a reason his starting record was 0-15 in Cleveland last year.

MVP Watch: It's hard to predict a season MVP after one game, but Aaron Rodgers has to be the clear front-runner, not just for team MVP but for league MVP at this point as well.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? General Feedback? Can we all just admit that Aaron Rodgers is not only better than Tom Brady, but better than any other Quarterback before him? Please let me know!
