Sam's Grading the Pack Week 3: We Can't Catch, Defend, or Block

There are a lot of statistics I don't like from this game, but one sticks out to me: 115 Yards

Green Bay tallied 11 penalties for 115 Yards. Yes, 15 of those shouldn't exist because of ANOTHER bad Roughing the Passer call on ,you guessed it, Clay Matthews. That being said, 100 yards on ten properly-called flags is a bad week. The Pack also allowed 4 Sacks on a hobbling Aaron Rodgers. In his third game as a Packer, Mo Wilkerson went down with an ankle injury so bad they sent him off in an ambulance. The defense recorded ZERO sacks, and the mega-cap-hit Nick Perry did nothing outside of entering the concussion protocol. Randall Cobb dropped two big passes, Davante Adams dropped another, and Lance Kendricks dropped what could've been a game-changing big catch on his only target of the game. If I'm Aaron Rodgers, I'd be pissed after this week. I mean, what more can he do? The only positive is that the Vikings got blown out by the Bills of all teams, so both teams lose after the ugly tie.

OVERALL: C

Offense: C+ QB/RB: B WR/TE: C+ OL: D+

Defense: C- DL: C+ LB: C DB: D Special Teams: B-

BEST GRADE: B+: Aaron Rodgers, QB; Geronimo Allison, WR; and JK Scott, P

As I said in many of the losses last year, whenever the best grade is below the "A" range, it was probably a rough game. To pour some salt in the recent wound, one of the three best performers was our Punter. Scott booted the ball five times and averaged nearly 47 yards a punt, twice getting it within the 20. Aaron Rodgers did everything he could on one good leg, balling out for over 250 Yards, a couple touchdowns and no interceptions. Geronimo Allison had a huge touchdown catch, and was the only main target who didn't drop any drive-continuing passes.

WORST GRADE: F: Bryan Bulaga, RT; Lance Kendricks, TE; and Kentrell Brice, SS

Three weeks of football, and Bryan Bulaga is on the Worst Grade list for the third straight week. He gave up a handful of pass rushing plays, couldn't hold his own in run blocking, committed penalties and left the game injured. As I've said a billion times before, Green Bay needs another legitimate option to start at Right Tackle. Lance Kendricks was on the chopping block in training camp due to his dropped passes, and he dropped his only target of the game - a potentially game-changing big play at that. Kentrell Brice screwed up big time by ignoring the ball and stumbling over himself on the first drive, leading to a huge touchdown for Washington. If it wasn't obvious the Green Bay needs Safety help before, Brice's play is a cry for help.

MVP Watch: Once again, Aaron Rodgers is in a league of his own for Team MVP. Geronimo Allison jumped over fellow wideout Davante Adams for second, while Mason Crosby remains in fourth.
