Looking Back At Alli Andrews' Near Triple-Double Effort (11/8/16)

*My hotel stay in Plymouth last Thursday night for the Morgan Township/Argos game inspired me to write this one.

On Nov. 8, 2016, then-Plymouth junior Alli Andrews went for 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in a 53-33 home win over Mishawaka Marian while shooting two-of-four from three and four-of-eight from the foul line.

And it was not as if this performance was a product of a weak opponent. Marian was actually ranked higher that season in the state rankings than Plymouth was that season according to MaxPreps. A 2018 graduate of the school, Alli was a big guard with immense skills and with range anywhere in the gym. It is a travesty that she is not currently playing college basketball in some capacity.

Andrews was caught at the wrong place at the wrong time at least once in her lifetime, and I hereby warn everyone to reserve judgement - Any one individual who claims they don't have baggage is lying through their teeth - In March of 2018, Alli was caught in the passenger's seat of a vehicle discovered with marijuana and paraphernalia. She had a cash bond set at $500, and was released within three hours.

For her junior season of 2016-17, Andrews averaged 13.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She consistently hovered around the upper-30's in three-point percentage, and connected on 78 percent of her foul shots for her career.

As for the game itself:

In an eerily similar final score as last year's game between the two teams, Morgan Township defeated Argos on their home floor last Thursday, 62-40. Guard Emma O'Brien led MT with 15 points on the evening. O'Brien's first three-pointer of the night gave her team a 7-6 lead, a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way. The Cherokees' defense limited Argos senior floor general Kagnie Hoffman to just one fast break layup in the 4th quarter that virtually had no effect on the outcome of the game. Hoffman entered the contest having averaged 8.1 points per game on the season.
