Four Outside-the-Box Elite 8 Matchups

These are games that I would be really, really intrigued by.  These games would be incredible to watch due to the storylines surrounding them, along with the chance at a Final Four.

EAST REGION: (2) Duke vs. (8) Wisconsin
A rematch of the 2015 National Championship with a Final Four berth on the line.  This would be Duke's second in three years and Wisconsin's third in four, and I know the Badger state has real anxiety towards the Duke Blue Devils.  Key players on both sides return from that game, including Grayson Allen, Matt Jones and Amile Jefferson of Duke and Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes of Wisconsin.  This would be an opportunity for revenge, along with an opportunity for an early April appearance on the line.

MIDWEST REGION: (5) Iowa State vs. (7) Michigan
These teams rarely play each other if ever, but these are arguably the two hottest teams in all of college basketball, and they have very similar styles of play.  They are the respective Big 12 and Big Ten champions, and although bad blood probably doesn't exist here, it would be a hell of a game.  Lots of offense, little defense, and a lot of running.  Good luck keeping up with this game.

SOUTH REGION: (4) Butler vs. (10) Wichita State
Two of the premiere Cinderella teams of all time with another chance at a Final Four on the line.  Wichita State would have the tougher road (obviously because they are the lower seed) but Butler would have to get past the North Carolina Tar Heels.  These teams were on nobody's radar seven years ago, and now they are prominent schools thanks to multiple deep tournament runs.

WEST REGION: (1) Gonzaga vs. (7) St. Mary's
The two West Coast conference teams are in the same region, and both of these teams have the same amount of losses (1) excluding head-to-head matchups.  St. Mary's has lost all three games against Gonzaga, including the conference championship, but imagine a fourth matchup with a chance for each program to get to its' first Final Four.  And, imagine if St. Mary's won, after failing to beat the Zags this season.
