Cleveland Cavaliers Report at the All-Star Break

Despite being the NBA defending champions to start the season, in ways the Cleveland Cavaliers feel like they are disrespected because of the Golden State Warriors. Cleveland is 39-16 on the year and currently sit in first place in the east. They will most likely claim the number one seed come playoff time.

They recently signed Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract, and he is playing with a ton of energy. The odds are he will probably be with the team for the rest of the season. In four games with the Cavaliers, he is averaging 9.8 PPG and 3 RPG.

Him and Channing Frye will play a key role for the Cavs at power forward because Kevin Love will be sidelined the next six weeks with a knee injury. Love is averaging 20 PPG and 11.1 RPG.

The leader Lebron James, is averaging 25.9 PPG 7.7 RPG and 8.8 APG. He has played a lot of minutes this season and maybe the Cavs will give him a couple of games to rest in the second half of the season before the postseason.

Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.4 PPG and 5.9 APG. When the game is on the line, he always wants to take the big shot and he is also pretty good at it.

They also acquired Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks in January. The Cavs struggled with him early, but he has finally adjusted to the offense. He is averaging 11 PPG, in 19 games with Cleveland.

Cleveland is hopeful that J.R. Smith will return soon from injury. He will be a spark plug to this team big time. He hasn't played since December 20th. Iman Shumpert has also been sidelined with an injury. They are both solid perimeter defenders.

Will the Cavaliers also try and trade for a backup point guard or will they just let Kay Fedler be it.

As a team, they are scoring 111.3 PPG, which is third in the NBA. They are giving up 106 PPG, which is 18th in the NBA. Cleveland needs to keep playing with a chip on their shoulder in the second half of the season and not take anything for granted.
