After Brandon McManus missed a 62-yard field goal after the 2 minute warning in overtime with the game tied at 27, Kansas City drove down the field to set themselves up for a potential game winner. Cairo Santos attempted a 34-yard field goal and it went off the left upright and went in as time expired, in a 30 to 27 victory over the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs move to the number 5 seed in the AFC, and the Broncos move out of a playoff spot for now. In the second quarter, Kansas City scored on a safety and a Tyreek Hill kick return for a touchdown.

With Denver trailing 9 to 3 in the third-quarter, Trevor Siemian threw a 6-yard touchdown to Jordan Taylor. Later in the period, Tyreek Hill scored on a 3-yard touchdown run.

In the fourth quarter, Trevor Siemian threw two touchdown passes to Emmanuel Saunders (35 yards) and Bennie Fowler (76 yards). Siemian finished with 368 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Saunders finished with 7 catches for 162 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.

During the two minute drill, Alex Smith marched Kansas City right down the field. With 15 seconds remaining on a first-and-goal from the 3-yard line, Smith threw a pass to Tyreek Hill and he was tackled short of the end zone. The clock kept running and then the referees blew the whistle. They reviewed the play and Hill didn't have full possession until he was in the end zone, so the play was overturned.

Kansas City still needed to attempt the two-point conversion, and they converted it. Smith finished with 220 passing yards and 1 touchdown. Hill finished with 3 rushing yards and 1 touchdown, along with 9 catches for 52 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.

Kansas City will travel to Atlanta (7-4) next Sunday.
