The heart and soul of the Kansas City Chiefs defense isn't going anywhere. Safety Eric Berry signed a six-year deal worth $78 million. He is getting $40 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He is 28 years old and played on a franchise tender last season.

Berry had 77 tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 touchdowns, and one 2-point conversion for a score last season on defense. He is an elite defensive player in the NFL. He will also be the highest paid safety in the NFL. Berry may not be the highest paid safety for long though.

He also survived the cancer of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Berry is an inspirational NFL player. He will probably wreck havoc for the next few seasons.
