Hurricanes Flood Islanders

In the two previous games the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Islanders met, they were both high scoring affairs. Would Monday night be possibly any different? Carolina defeated New York 8 to 4. Carolina is 3-0 this season against them.

The Hurricanes are one of the bottom feeders in the east and if they played the Islanders every game, they would probably be a playoff team.

In the first period, Ryan Strome scored for the Islanders. Jaccob Slavin and Joakim Nordstrom scored for the Hurricanes in the first. Stephen Gionta tied it for New York later in the period.

In the second period, Calvin de Haan scored early in the period for the Islanders. Justin Faulk (twice), Jeff Skinner, and Jaccob Slavin (shorthanded) all scored goals for Carolina in the second period. During the middle of the period, the Islanders pulled J.F. Berbue from net after the fourth goal. He only made 9 saves.

Thomas Greiss came in and didn't fair much better, he made 16 saves.  Josh Ho-Sang scored late in the second period for the Islanders.

Jeff Skinner scored his second goal of the game in the third period and Jaccob Slavin scored his third goal of the game in that period as well. Cam Ward made 23 saves for Carolina. These two teams will play each other two more times this season.
