The Houston Astros shocked the entire baseball world just before midnight on Thursday August 31st. They acquired right handed pitcher Justin Verlander from the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Franklin Perez, catcher Jake Rogers, and outfielder Daz Cameron, who is the son of former MLB player Mike Cameron. Houston will also receiver a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The Astros are currently the best team in the American League with a 80-53 record. Dallas Keuchel will get help now in the rotation and increase their chances of possibly winning the World Series. Perez's record in the minors this season was 6-3 with a 3.02 ERA. In 86.1 innings pitched, he has walked 27 batters and struck out 78. Perez also has three saves. He was ranked third in the Astros farm system.

Jake Rogers batting average in the minors this season was .263 He has hit 18 homeruns and 70 RBI's, along with 14 stolen bases. He was ranked 11th in the Astros farm system.

Daz Cameron's batting average in the minors this season was .271. He has hit 14 homeruns and 73 RBI's, along with 32 stolen bases. He was ranked ninth in the Astros farm system. All of these players are projected to reach the majors in 2019 and this was an excellent trade for both teams.
