Landon Collins Turning into Giants Defensive Superstar

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants traded up in the second round in the 2015 NFL Draft and selected strong safety Landon Collins from Alabama.  He is in second season in the NFL, and he is becoming a defensive nightmare real quickly for opponents.

He can rush the passer on safety blitzes, tackle running backs in the backfield with ease, and also has an instinct of intercepting the ball. Collins is one of the reasons why this New York Giants defense has improved this season. He might be the most important player on this defense because the safety position on this team is thin.

Collins currently has 69 tackles and 14 of them are assisted. He also has 3 sacks and 3 interceptions and one of them was returned for a touchdown.

He will probably finish with over 100 tackles and also have some more sacks and interceptions to his stat line. Collins is becoming one of the best safeties in the NFL, and he is a Pro Bowl Caliber player this season. He is only 22 years old and this might be the start of something special.
