Pacific Division Wins All-Star Tournament for second time in Three Years

For the third consecutive season, the NHL All-Star game featured a 3 on 3 tournament. The Pacific Division defeated the Atlantic Division 5-2 in the championship game. This is the second time in three seasons the Pacific Division won the tournament. They also won $1,000,000. Brock Boeser was named the tournament MVP.

Each game featured two ten-minute periods. Rickard Rakell and Brock Boeser scored early in the first for the Pacific. Mike Green cut the lead in half for the Atlantic. Later in the period, Drew Doughty scored for the Pacific.

Johnny Gaudreau scored for the Pacific in the second. Mike Green scored his second goal of the game in the second. Rickard Rakell scored his second goal of the game for the Pacific.

Marc-Andre Fleury made three saves and Mike Smith made six saves for the Pacific Division. Andrei Vasilevskiy made eight saves and Carey Price made six saves for the Atlantic Division.

In the first game of the tournament, the Pacific Division defeated the Central Division 5-2 on Brock Boeser's game-winning goal with 1:46 remaining in regulation. Nathan MacKinnon scored the lone goal for the Central Division in the first period. Drew Doughty tied the game at one for the Pacific and James Neal gave the Pacific a 2-1 lead with 3:03 remaining in regulation. P.K. Subban tied the game for the Central on a fast break with 2:31 remaining in regulation.

When it was 3-2 Pacific, Brent Burns and James Neal (second of game) both score empty net goals. Marc-Andre Fleury and Mike Smith each stopped seven shots for the Pacific Division. Pekka Rinne stopped all four shots he faced and Conor Hellebuyck stopped five shots for the Central Division.

In the second game of the tournament, the Atlantic Division defeated the Metropolitan Division 7-4 thanks to Jack Eichel's game-winning goal with 3:20 left in regulation.

Sidney Crosby opened the scoring for the Metro 1:09 into the contest. Auston Matthews tied the game at one later in the first for the Atlantic. Claude Giroux and Alex Ovechkin scored for the Metro later in the first. Nikita Kucherov scored later in the first for the Atlantic.

Kucherov tied the game at three 2:13 into the second-period for the Atlantic. Kris Letang scored a goal and then gave the Metro the lead momentarily. Brayden Point tied the game at four for the Atlantic later in the second. An Erik Karlsson goal was originally scored for the Atlantic Division, but the Metropolitan Division challenged the goal for offsides and they won the challenge.

When the Atlantic led 5-4, Brad Marchand and Nikita Kucherov (hat trick) added two more goals for the Atlantic. Carey Price made eight saves and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 10 saves for the Atlantic Division. Henrik Lundqvist and Braden Holtby each made five saves for the Metropolitan Division.

All-Star weekend concludes and the second half of the NHL season will resume starting Tuesday Night.
