Pittsburgh Shocks Buffalo

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The last time the Pittsburgh Penguins were down 3 to 0 in a game against the Buffalo Sabres at home was last year, and they came back to win 5 to 4 in a shootout. Pittsburgh was in that scenario today. They were down 3 to 0 in the first period today against Buffalo. The Penguins rallied to shock the Sabres 4 to 3.

Conor Sheary scored the game-winning goal with 2:56 remaining. Justin Schultz made one heck of a setup on that play. It looked like he was going to shoot, but Schultz passed it backdoor to Sheary.

Ryan O'Reilly, Brian Gionta, and Jack Eichel scored for the Sabres in the first-period. I didn't think Matt Murray would be pulled after the first for the Penguins but he was. The funny thing was Murray made 18 saves in the period.

I think the reasoning behind the pull was the Penguins lacked energy and maybe a goalie change would maybe walk them up. In the second period, Justin Schultz scored and so did Evgeni Malkin on the power-play.

In the third period, Jake Guentzel tied the game with under four minutes in regulation. The rest of the game was history.

I didn't think Pittsburgh was going to be able to get a puck pass Anders Nilsson this afternoon. He made 41 saves in the game for the Sabres. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 28 shots in relief.

These two teams will play each other one more time this season.
