Power Play Damage Lifts Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling on the power play as of late. The tide turned tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the power play department. They went for 3 for 5, and one of them resulted in a game-winner by Evgeni Malkin with 11:24 remaining in regulation.

Sidney Crosby scored the first goal of the game for the Pens in the first-period. Later in the period, he was checked into the boards head first and he went back to the locker room. Fans and players were hoping it wasn't another concussion for the captain.

The Tampa Bay Lightning tied the game at 1 late in the first by Jonathan Drouin. In the second period, Crosby did return to the ice for the Penguins. Tampa Bay scored twice in the second-period by Valtteri Flippula and Jonathan Drouin.

Before the end of the second-period, Evgeni Malkin scored. At the beginning of the third period, Sidney Crosby scored again. He now has 20 goals on the year.

Matt Murray made 20 saves for the Penguins. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 33 saves for the Lightning. These teams will play each other 2 more times this season.
