Will the Penguins See Tristan Jarry at all this season?

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

At 21 years old, Goaltender Tristan Jarry is polishing his game in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In 11 games he has played in, Jarry is 7-3-1 with a 1.98 GAA and .929 save percentage. In 33 games last year for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he went 17-13-3 with a 2.69 GAA and a .905 save percentage along with 5 shutouts.

He has looked better this season, but Jarry could use some more games and reps before he gets called up to the NHL. Some people wondered when he was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2013 NHL Draft, that he maybe had more talent than Matt Murray, who was drafted in the 3rd round in the 2012 NHL Draft.

But obviously you know the story of Matt Murray by now, he has stolen Penguins fans hearts with his performance of play and leading them to the Stanley Cup Trophy last season.

It is really going to be interesting when they decide to call him up. He could be in the AHL for the entire season which is what I think the Pittsburgh Penguins want. The reality is they are not going to be able to keep down there. At some point they are going to wave the white flag and trade Marc-Andre Fleury.

It is because of a business decision looming for the NHL Expansion Draft this upcoming summer. Murray is the future of this team and they won't dare get rid of him. Another part of reality is all of a sudden the team can't score goals or win for Fleury, but when Murray plays it is an entirely different story.

In the month of November alone, they are 5-0 when Matt Murray plays the entire game. He has only given up 9 goals total in those 5 games plus the one game he was injured in and didn't return. They have scored 21 goals in those games.

When Fleury plays, they are 0-3-2. They have only scored 8 goals total in those games and given up 17. I am really curious how well the Pittsburgh Penguins would play in front of Tristan Jarry. Would they give him the goal support and energy on the defensive side necessary to win games?

It wouldn't surprise me to see Jarry by January or February in the NHL, being the backup to Matt Murray. He also has starting goalie potential, but the present right now is Matt Murray.
