I Wish MadBum was in the AL

MLB: San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks

This afternoon Madison Bumgarner, the San Francisco Giant's ace, went yard not once, but twice on Opening Day. This wouldn't be noteworthy if Bumgarner were an everyday player, but he's not. He's a pitcher, and an All-Star one at that.

This surge of power is not coming out of thin-air for the hefty lefty. He had 12 home runs from 2014-2016, which was far and away the best for a pitcher. Because he plays in the National League, Bumgarner cannot hit when he is not pitching since there is no DH and the Giants would never play him in the field just so they could utilize his bat (although maybe they should).

When the Giants visit American League teams comes interleague play it will be interesting to see Bruce Bochy's approach. Does the Giants' manager want to win games or do things conventionally? If it's the former, we should see Madison Bumgarner in the DH spot.
