Ronald Darby Gives A Glimpse Of Hope In Secondary For Birds In His Debut

The new Philadelphia Eagle cornerback Ronald Darby showed up to play in his first game as a bird.

Although with the first snap of the game....Darby gets shooked out of his sneaks by former eagle LeSean McCoy by taking a bad angle on him for a tackler.

But later in the game, Tyrod Taylor slings a pass about 25 yards in the air while Darby was playing outside containment on the route he undercuts the pass making a athletic move on the ball, and intercepts it!! It was an impressive play with great ball skills on his end.

This is exactly what the Eagles need in the secondary, someone that can contain wide receivers, and get turnovers. He also had a pass break up on an out route that almost ended up in an interception as well.

The Eagles shipped over my guy Jordan Matthews, and a 3rd round pick to acquire Ronald Darby who is only 23 years old. If our rookie Sidney Jones get healthy, and gets out there...This could be a nice 1-2 combo of cornerbacks for the birds.

Darby is still on his rookie contract so he is still cheap right now, and the Eagles weren't going to resign Matthews so they tried to get the most out of his departure by shipping him off now with something in return.

This will let Nelson Agholor to develop faster, and get him more looks in the slot. Agholor has been looking sharp in the preseason so far, catching the ball with his hands, running crisp routes, and giving some YAC. He put a double move on the nickel corner in the game and it was beautiful, and he caught it!!! Look for him to keep improving with less pressure on him.

I was very impressed with Darby besides the miss tackle, and the defense overall looked decent. Another interception by Kendricks was big. Maybe we should keep him after all.

Tune in for the Eagles 3rd preseason game next Thursday vs. The Miami Dolphins.

Bleed Green!!!!
