Can The Pistons Get The 8th Seed
In my recent blog the pistons was 9-1 in the last ten games after they got rid of josh smith they was playing great basketball. A lot of things change since then in late janauary the pistons was playing the bucks on a saturday night and brandon jennings tore his achilles that night a lot of fans espeically me was shocked cause he was playing the best basketball in his career and his season ended short. so the everybody had to step up the starting pg was giving to dj augstine who play good when he started the next few games the pistons went in a slump they lost 3 games in row one of those losses was to bad sixers team we didnt know where this team was heading.
On January 31 a game vs the rockets thats when they started to get back to winning ways kcp had his carrer high that game 28 points ever since then he been on fire latley averaging 15 points a game shooting 45% from the three and 40% from the field. they went on to beat miami and the hornets and the losses to spurs and timberwolves to end the first half of the season 21-33. during the break there was a lot of trades that happened the pistons was involved in two of them a lot of people was suprised in a three team deal with okc and jazz they traded kyle singler and dj augstine to okc for reggie jackson and jazz got perkins who would end up being realeased and signed with the cavs. i was ok this trade cause they gave reggie jackson his chance to run his own team for the first time in his career. The pistons was involved in another traded with boston they gave up jonas jerbrko and gigi datome for tayshaun prince , a lot of pistons fans was happy to have prince back in his hometown.
When They came back from allstar break we was exicted cause new pieces came in and time was to make this playoff push the first game they had to play the bulls who had everybody healthy that pistons was short handed cause reggie jackson and tayshaun prince had to take the physical an get ready first. spencer dinwiddie got his first career start against derrick rose nobody knew how well he was going to play. He outplayed d rose that game spencer ended having 12 points 9 assits and 3 steals, as for derrick rose he had a horrible game the pistons held him to 8 points shot 2 for 9 from the field with 6 turnovers. the pistons won that game 100-91 caron butler had 20 points helping the pistons erased a 8 pt lead in the 2nd half drummond had another 20 rebound game with 18 pts it was good night overall. That sunday they went up going against the wizards who was in a slump reggie jackson was getting his first start as piston. First half he played nervous he was 1 shot out of 8 attempts but hit a big three to end the first half . 2nd half he was looking like the reggie jackson we traded for going 6 for 7 in the second half he finshed with 17 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists with a couple of nice alley to the andre drummond. Jackson and kcp looking great together knowing where each other was at the right time kcp went on to have 20 pts hitting 6 threes that the pistons needed they went on to win 106-89.
Everything was looking good untii the ran in to the cavs who the hottest team in the east. that game was going back and forth both teams had big leads going in to halftime the pistons was up 11 jackson and kcp was looking great togther once again 2nd half started kcp came out and hit another 3 after that everything went downhill. Cavs got going lebron was passing to kevin love who got hot from the 3 point line the pistons lost the 14 pt lead and the game was going back and forth through the middle of the 4th quarter the pistons went on to shoot 29% from the field in the second half and only scoring 31 points the rest of the game after scoring 62 in the first half on 58% shooting the cavs just shut them down monroe could not get going only ended having up 12 points the pistons lost the game 102-93 and was 1 game behind the 8th seed. The next night they played a knicks team who lost 8 straight and had the worst record in the east.
During that game the pistons had 18 pt lead and blew they started releaxing and the knicks stormed back monroe was getting killed by andre bargnani and lou amundson him and drummond got outrebound late in the game when they needed the most. The pistons had 5 pt lead with 30 secs and allowed the knicks to get a putback layup and a three to tie the game up with 8 secs left the pistons had the ball with a chance to win the game but shot a horrible shot , the game went to Ot with the pistons down 2 with 8 secs left monroe got a and-one but missed the freethrow and the game went to double ot. drummond got fouled out and the pistons went on to lose 121-115 falling 2 games behind the 8 seed on a night where they could up ended up being tied with the nets and pacers for the 8 seed.
With a lot fans angry they have to play the wizards next now it time to get every win cause this team has to make th playoffs with 24 games left in the season 15 of them on road. the pistons a have tough road to go through espeically when they go on 4 game west coast trip hopefully they get it togther an win most of the games.There 5 teams that fighing for the 8 seed nets, pacers , celtics and hornets its going to be a tight race but i think the pistons could pull it out and get that 8 seed and make the playoffs, hopefully the heat could go on a losing streak and drop out of the 7 seed and the pistons could get that 7 spot.
