The search for a 2 game winning streak continues in Queens. After a 12-2 laugher of the Blue Jays yesterday, Toronto countered with a laugher of their own, a 12-1 beatdown of the Amazins on Wednesday. With the Mets 5 and 6 hitters, Evans and Guillorme respectively making their first career starts in the majors, the Mets offense was held to just 4 hits, one coming for Luis Guillorme. The rain fell at Citi Field from start to finish, and very heavily in the 3rd and towards the end, so take that excuse if you want it. Zack Wheeler had a solid first 3 innings, allowing only one hit, a home run to Justin Smoak. However, he collapsed in the 4th and 5th, allowing 5 more runs without recording an out in the 5th inning. Brandon Nimmo's home run in the 9th dodged New York's 4th shutout of the year. For the first time in 13 games, Toronto has won a baseball game in Queens, improving to 1-12 all time on the road against the Mets. The Mets get an off day tomorrow before playing the last 6 games of their 8-game homestand against the Diamondbacks and Marlins. That was one to forget.
