Mets-Nationals series preview; Mets home opener

The Mets will host the Nationals in their first series at Citi Field in the 2019 season. The Mets come in at 5-1 and first in the NL East, fresh off a 3-game sweep in Miami. The Nationals come in at 2-3, after splitting a 2-game series with Bryce Harper and the Phillies. The Mets won 2 out of 3 in Washington to start the season, and are 7-3 against the Nats in their last 10 dating back to last season. New York took the season series in 2018, 11 games to 8. Already off to a good start this season, the Mets look to push Washington even further down in the division. New York will send Syndergaard, Matz, and Wheeler up against Strasburg, Corbin, and Scherzer. Scherzer is making his 3rd start in just the Nationals 8th game of the year. He took a loss in each of the first two, but his ERA does not reflect two poor outings whatsoever. It'll be another tough series for New York, but with a lot of division games early on in the year, they need to make hay while they can.
