Steps for Anthony Davis to be part of the G.O.A.T. discussion

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Davis just added his best performance to date of 50 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 steals, 4 blocks and 17/34 FG, to his long list of out-of-this world explosions! That performance alone should tell us that Davis has all the tools to reach the Greatest of All Time discussion.

He has 4 years of experience already but mind you, he is only 23 years old. He has a long road ahead of him so it is very achievable.

And these are steps to reach  that.

#1 Be healthy
In his first four seasons, he already missed 68 games and the problem about that is, he got injured in different parts of his body. It is true that the Pelicans have one of the worst medical and training staffs but Davis himself can help them in maintaining his health. The easiest thing to do is build up muscles to help him absorb contacts.

#2 Find the Right Coach

Michael Jordan has Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant has Phil Jackson, Tim Duncan has Greg Popovich and etc. Majority of the greats were supported by great coaches so finding the right coach for him is a must. It could be coach Alvin Gentry. Coach Alvin is a good offensive coach and maybe we will see some spark to their relationship this season.

#3 Find your Robin
Even the great Lebron James went and worked with two elite players to triumphed. So, don't expect Anthony Davis to be successful on his own. Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans are great players but I think they are not good enough to be his Robin. The management should help him out with this. In the upcoming offseason, Jrue and Tyreke's contracts will go off-the-books which will give the team enough cap space to sign the Robin. A combo of Blake Griffin - Anthony Davis looks good to me.

#4 Develop Shooting

His athleticism will diminish through time but he can slow that down if he can slow down the wear and tear to his muscles. And to do that, he needs to develop his shooting. But, he should not forget about his other abilities. Or else, he could end up as a Chris Bosh - Heat version prototype.

#5 Partner with a very good general manager

Great players who plays under bad GMs will have a hard time winning anything. You want an example? It is Davis himself.

#6 He needs to be assertive

It is good to be a team player but for a great player, he will need to voice out what he wants and refuse to be controlled. With that, the team and the management will be pushed to do the right things.

I am really craving to see Anthony Davis compete deep into the playoffs so that he can prove his excellency.
