Recruiting Profile: Michael Carter

The 2017 recruiting profile series continues with Michael Carter, a running back from Navarre High School in Navarre, FL. Carter had an extremely successful career, rushing for 61 touchdowns in his varsity career according to MaxPreps. His senior season saw him reach the endzone 41 times on the ground, and 45 times in total. That's just nuts. Carter ran for 3812 yards, and totaled an 8.8 yards per carry in his career. 2536 of those yards came in his senior year alone. Honestly, his three star rating according to 247sports, is just insulting.

Put on Carter’s tape and you’ll love what you see. His acceleration in the open field is his biggest asset. He goes 0-100 in no time, allowing him to pull away from defenders with ease. Carter’s shiftiness allows him to make defenders miss. He has a bit of an edge, as well, that allows him to run through defenders. Carter’s vision is good and will only get better at the college level. This is one of my favorite highlight tapes to watch in this class.

Carter joined the Heels back in January, giving him an advantage over the other backs in this class. This will allow him to adjust to the college lifestyle and get a jump on learning the Heels offense. With the Heels losing their three top backs from a year ago, Carter should have a chance to make a big impact, maybe even start. Tar Heel fans, learn this name because he may be the best back to come through Chapel Hill in a while.
