Final Mock Draft (2017)

The NFL draft starts tomorrow (April 27th) and ends Saturday, April 29th. Since it is the day before the NFL draft I thought I would sit down and make my own mock draft. In this post, I am going to predict the top six picks of the first round of the draft and add some comments. I hope you enjoy:

Pick 1 (Browns): Myles Garrett (defensive end)

There is a lot of debate on whether or not the Browns should go with a quarterback or defensive end. Regardless of who the Browns end up picking, they are going to walk away with someone great. If Garrett is not selected with the first pick, he will not likely be around by the time the Browns pick again in the first round. A quarterback would be a reach, even at the No. 1 overall pick.

Pick 2 (49ers): Solomon Thomas (defensive line)

The 49ers will be operating under a new coaching scheme next season and Thomas is a very strong, versatile human being. This is a guy you will not want to pass up on.

Pick 3 (Bears): Jamal Adams (Safety)

The Bears need a lot of help on defense, specifically the secondary. I believe that they will pick a defensive player with the No. 3 overall pick. There are plenty of cornerbacks and safeties to choose from in the first round and it is near impossible to predict who they will choose. My best guess would be Jamal Adams. This guy is seriously a generational talent. He is one of the top safeties in the draft and a player that should not be passed up on if available.

Pick 4 (Jaguars): Leonard Fournette (running back)

I believe that the Jaguars are going to go after a running back in the first round. The obvious answer would be to take Fournette. The guy is 6'0 240 pounds (after slimming down). He runs a 40 in 4.51 seconds. Fournette can not only run with the ball well but easily catch passes, too. This is a generational running back. There is a long list of teams that are interested in him and I bet he will be taken top-five, no doubt.

*Pick 5 (Titans): Jonathon Allen (defensive line)

The Titans have statistically been the worst at getting to the opposing quarterback and applying pressure. It makes sense that they would go defensive with the fifth pick.

*Pick 6 (Jets) O.J. Howard (tight end)

I could see the Jets going in a lot of different directions with this pick. There is so much talent in this draft that it is hard to truly get the best player available. I know that the Jets have had the worst production in the league from their tight ends last season. It makes sense they would go after a tight end early in the draft. There is only a handful of good tight ends in this draft.

*There is a lot of speculation that the Browns are looking at trying to trade for the fifth or sixth pick. The Browns are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback and will want to trade down if they feel that they might miss out on a great quarterback. Do not be surprised if the Browns make a bold move tomorrow.

Those are just my thoughts. Let me know what you think the draft order is going to look like.
