Welcome Wilson Ramos to Tampa Bay!

The Tampa Bay Rays and free agent catcher Wilson Ramos agreed to a two year, $12 million dollar that can be worth up to $18.25 million if all incentives are met.

Wilson Ramos, 29, won't be playing until mid season it seems like. He is coming off the worst injury of his career, and is currently rehabbing. If you follow him on Twitter you can see him tweeting to his followers about his progress throughout the rehab. An unusual move to say the least by bringing in someone injured to such a contract, but this deal can provide a lot of value and excitement for the organization.

Wilson Ramos is one of fourteen catchers to have been on the receiving end of at least three no-hitters. Two of them were thrown by Max Scherzer and the other was thrown by Jordan Zimmerman. He has had the opportunity to be on the receiving end of very good pitchers for the Nationals. He brings all that knowledge to the Rays, which has a young staff and bullpen that has a lot of potential. Sure his numbers of pitch framing may not be there but the knowledge of getting the job done is there and that is very important. Something Jose Molina brought to the Rays which helped David Price a whole lot in the time they spent together. Having a catcher with his knowledge is great but what makes him arguably the best catcher the Rays have had is the bat.

Wilson Ramos has power in his bat. Ramos since 2013 has hit 16 in '13, 11 in '14, 16 in '15, and 25 this past year. The steamer from Fangraphs.com has Ramos hitting 15 HRs for the Rays this upcoming season.

The experience, knowledge, and presence of Wilson Ramos will indeed help the Rays this upcoming season no doubt. Sure that may be my personal opinion but when you see someone interact with fans on a daily basis, be someone engaged with teammates throughout the season, have fun on the field, and show up in moments when he's needed most you know you got yourself a special player.

I want to personally wish Wilson nothing but a speedy recovery and rehab so we can have him earlier and can make more of an impact of our season rather than what is speculated for him to return.
