"Once in a Lifetime" Opporunity Awaits Hurricane
Pony Lewis Field Awaits the Redskins.
Tomorrow night in Morgantown against the Mohigans, Hurricane will be the 5th team in School history to have a chance of winning consecutive playoff games and advance to the Semi-finals. The previous 4 Redskin squads that had this opportunity all fell short.
Let's look at the history of these four seasons in which Hurricane had the opportunity to reach the State Semi-finals.
1993 Hurricane gets the first playoff win in school history by downing Martinsburg 12-7. The following week they lost to Randy Moss and Dupont 21-6.

The Redskins would NOT win another playoff game for 12 Years when in 2005 they again beat Martinsburg 26-21. The following week they hosted Cabell Midland, who beat Hurricane 24-21.
Hurricane fans waited another 5 years for the next Playoff victory which took place in 2010, when the Redskins defeated Spring Valley at Redskins Stadium by a 39-17 score. The next week Hurricane traveled to Laidley Field to take on 2 time defending champion South Charleston. The Redskins were on the verge of victory when a late fumble return led to a 30-26 defeat. The aftermath of that defeat is still being discussed to this day.

In 2011, for the first time in School history, Hurricane won playoff games in back to back seasons when the Redskins defeated Elkins 55-30. The following week, Willis May in his last game coaching Hurricane, dropped a 33-6 decision to the Ryan Switzer led George Washington Patriots.

That wraps up the Hurricane Redskin playoff success. We have waited 5 years for another playoff victory, which Coach Taylor and the Redskins delivered that last week at University with a 38-14 win. So the players, and especially the Seniors on this 2016 Hurricane team, have an opportunity of a Lifetime to do something that NO football team in the history of the school has ever accomplished. Win and make history!!!!
