Hurricane on the Verge of History.

With Friday's 1st round playoff victory over University in hand, Hurricane has the chance to make school history Friday when they return to Morgantown to face the Mohigans. Hurricane now 5-17 all time in the playoffs, has the opportunity to be the first team in school history to win consecutive playoff games and reach the elusive "Final Four".

Hurricane hopes to celebrate school history....

Perhaps in an effort to bring the Redskins and their fans a dose of reality, Rick Ryan made some interesting points in the WV Gazette. Hurricane has been both outrushed and outpassed by opponents this season, and have gained 55 FEWER 1st downs. Opponents have run 649 plays this season while the Redskins have taken 526 offensive snaps, this 123 play difference has certainly led to Hurricane being outgained on the year thus far.  Ryan adds "No matter how it's happening, Hurricane is getting it done." Coach Taylor agrees that In years past the Redskins had Quarterbacks, receivers, and backs put up big numbers, "we dont have that this year, but we are in the quarterfinals and I'll take it."

Although sitting out the University win, Boobie McDougale still leads all Hurricane rushers with 528 yards. However Payton Lunsford, who has been a larger part of the Redskins' attack recently, leads all ball carriers with  8.32 yards per attempt. Christian Hill (288 yards 7.38 Ave) has added another element to the offense, while Nick Williams (361 yards) had his best game against University.

Dylan Plumley has 1165 yards passing with 12 TDS vs. 5 Interceptions. Ben McCallister leads the Redskins with 23 receptions while Dakota Williams has 440 receiving yards.

Kicking Game: After handling the placekicking duties nearly the entire season, Cole Bumgarner (25-28 PATS 1-1 FG) apparently has been replaced by Zane Kerns, who has come off the bench since early in the St. Albans game. Kerns is 9-9 on PATS and went 1-2 on Field Goals at University, hitting from 37 yards and just falling short from 40 yards away. Kerns has also shown a stronger leg on Kickoffs averaging 48.3 per KO vs. Bumgarner's 42.1.
