A parent’s job in life is to teach their children various paths of life and let them find their way. This teaching obviously should exclude violence or any other law breaking activity. What happens when a parent not only does what they shouldn’t but also represents being a coach and a teacher? This is what we have now, as Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer was arrested for assault and battery early Sunday morning in Florida.

When Kromer and his son got into an altercation with a minor at Inlet Beach, according to a report filed by Walton County Sheriff’s office. The victims reported to the deputies that Kromer confronted three boys over the use of beach chairs left by beach access. Kromer then grabbed a fishing pole and chucked it into the water. He then pushed one of the boys to the ground and began pummeling him in the face, right before he told the boys to get the chairs out of the water. If that wasn’t enough Kromer then threatened the children that he would kill their family if they reported the altercation.

At 1:39 a.m. Aaron Kromer was arrested on misdemeanor battery charge, and transported and booked into the Walton County Jail. At 3:10 according to jail records and Ian Rapoport Kromer was released on bond. The Buffalo Bills addressed the situation by stating that they were “aware of the report and in the process of gathering facts.”

WCSO is continuing to investigate and additional charges may be filed. WCSO executive staff will be reviewing this case first thing Monday morning when the redacted arrest report will be made available.

Kromer came over to the New York Jets with Rex Ryan after spending two seasons with the Chicago Bears being their offensive coordinator. Kromer made headlines last season when he admitted to the club that he was the one that told Ian Rapoport about the criticism of Jay Cutler.

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com stated that there has been claims made against Kromer may not be accurate. A mysterious source, mentioned that “It was dark out. He couldn’t see the people,” the source told Marvez. “The kids were belligerent and threatened him. Bottom line, they stole his property and he couldn’t identify them because it was dark out and they threatened him.”

A mysterious source cold be anyone, even Aaron Kromer himself. It has hard to imagine children being threatening to a 6’4” 215 pound male?

Kromer has been an active member of the NFL since 2001. He was the interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints for six games in 2012.

The Bills, who are scheduled to open training camp on July 31, and the NFL will keep a close eye on the situation involving Kromer to determine what action they will take.
