Three of the top 5 teams in College Basketball Go Down.
Hi everybody. As you Know on Monday Night NC State upset Duke at Cameron Indoor for the 1st time since 1995. But in my opinion that is no longer news worth after what happened on Tuesday Night. Can you Believe three of the Top five teams in the Country went down. Well it happened. No.1 Villanova lost to Marquette 74-72. No.2 Kansas went down with A BIG THUD 85-69 at the Hands of West Virginia. And No.4 Kentucky went to Knoxville and got Knocked off by Tennessee 84-82. I am going to give you a wrap up on each game and at the end of this crazy story you will get my commentary.
Let's start it right of with Marquette: They shot a incredible 69.6% from the field in the 2nd half and they nailed their free throws down the stretch. Villanova had no Answer at all in the game they were down by 17 at the half. Their shooting was not up to par on Tuesday Night. And they trailed 37-20. Marquette lead for all but 22 seconds in the second half but they found a way to win. KATIN Reinhardt came off the bench to score 19 points and the free throws that won the game for Marquette. Now as far as their NCAA tournament Hopes. I had them on the Bubble but they are only a game and a half back in the very tough Big East conference they are 14-6, 5-3 in the Big East. They are also in the Middle of a 4 team war for the Big East Crown. So right now I have taken Marquette of the Bubble and I have them in the Tournament Field after they pulled of this upset and after they Upset Creighton a couple of weeks back. So look out for Marquette Down The Stretch.
West Virginia Mountaineers: If somebody would have said to me that they would upset Kansas in Morgantown I would have said you're crazy. Because Kansas was the Number 2 team in the country and in the Middle of a Big 12 Battle with Baylor. But since West Virginia joined the Big 12 Five years ago the Mountaineers are 4-1 against Kansas in Morgantown. And they proved they can beat the Jayhawks again. Kansas did not Answer the bell in the 2nd half. ESA Ahmad had a Career Night by scoring 27 points in the game. As for West Virginia they are 3 games Back of both Kansas and Baylor in The Big 12 at the moment. And in My Opinion they are a lock For the NCAA tournament after quality wins over both Kansas and Baylor. So Look out in Morgantown because the Mountaineers are going to make some MAJOR Noise down the Stretch.
The Tennessee Volunteers: If somebody would have said Tennessee would upset No.4 Kentucky in Knoxville I would have said NO WAY!!!!!. But Robert HUBBS III tied his career high 25 points on Tuesday night. Then with 3:12 left in the ballgame a Kentucky player slipped on some water that was spilled on the court by mistake he fell to the floor and it caused a traveling call that Cost Kentucky the game. As for Tennessee I don't have them anywhere near the NCAA tournament. Even with this quality upset win Tennessee is out of the NCAA tournament unless they win the SEC conference tournament and get a automatic berth. There Resume alone is not going to be anywhere near enough. They are 3 games back in the SEC. They only Have a 11-9 record and they are only 4-4 in the SEC. So Tennessee's only hope is to win the SEC Tournament.
Don't forget about No.4 Gonzaga they Play on Thursday night against San Diego State and could they suffer the Same fate as the other 3 teams. But Here's My Take on A Wild Night in College Basketball. If somebody would have said to me Numbers 1,2 and 4 would go down I would have said SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!. But it happened so we do we go from here if Gonzaga wins on Thursday night they will be the Number 1 team in the Country. But as for Kansas and Kentucky somebody's going to lose two straight because they have to play each other at 6:15 on Saturday Night on ESPN. As for Villanova they going to bounce back and they are still one of the Favorites to win the Big East. But Butler and Creighton are right up their tail. And In closing I am going to say this. Folks you got a early taste of what March Madness is going to be like because if this is any indication come conference tournament time it's going to be crazy and Selection Sunday is going to be here before you know it. And the Madness is just around the corner.
