The Tennessee Titans will sign Derrick Henry to a long-term deal
Derrick Henry has officially signed his franchise tender for the 2020 season, according to Adam Schefter.
The King led the NFL in rushing yards and helped the Titans reach the AFC Championship game for the first time in almost 20 years last season and now, general manager John Robinson is making it abundantly clear that Henry will receive a long-term deal, it's just a matter of when.
Henry will make just over $10 million for this upcoming season, but he could receive a long-term deal from Tennessee before the July 15th deadline.
Franchise tagging Henry for this season was not Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel doubting the running back, it was a tactical decision in order to save money and make sure the team is strong at every position group.
Henry has been a force since being drafted in the second round of the 2015 and has earned the title of the best downhill runner in the league.
The workload for the King will be increased this season since Dion Lewis is no longer with the team, so expect Derrick to be running the ball frequently.
