Chris Long shows support for teammate by putting his arm around him during national anthem

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long took the first step to becoming a silent voice the world needs as he put his arm around teammate Malcolm Jenkins during the national anthem before Thursday night's preseason game.

Long was the first athlete on the patriots to speak publicly about not accepting an invite to the white house, now he has started to become an advocate for equality in the U.S.

His response to him putting his arm around Jenkins:

“I just told Malcolm, ‘I’m here for you,’” Long said afterward. “I think it’s a good time for people that look like me to be here for people that are fighting for equality.”

Said Jenkins: “This is a moment in time where he feels the need to kind of take that step and lead, and I appreciate that.”

Hopefully he has took the first step for white athletes to engage in protest along with minorities to fight for equality.
