Former Ravens safety Matt Elam arrested in Miami, faces felony drug charges

Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam was arrested Sunday morning in Miami and is facing multiple drug charges that include possession of marijuana, intent to sell or deliver and possession of a controlled substance according to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com

Elam a former 1st round pick for the Ravens in 2013 was pulled over for wreckless driving, when police found 126 grams of marijuana and 3 grams of oxycodone.

He is being held on $15,500 bail by Miami-Dade police. Elam will become a free agent as the Ravens did not pick up his option for 2017 an estimated $6 million for next season.

Elam was drafted in 2013 by the Ravens but never lived up to lofty expectations as he accumulated 131 tackles, half a sack and one interception in 3 seasons

The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec provided a statement from the Ravens following the news of Elam's arrest: "We are aware of the arrest of [Elam]. Matt is not in our plans for the 2017 Ravens."

Elam may have sealed his fate as far as making an NFL roster because teams are becoming strict on the personal conduct policy.
