Matt Ryan caps off historic season with NFL MVP honors

Matt Ryan tops off maybe the best season in franchise history and would be even sweeter with a Lombardi trophy

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has been outstanding this season as he has put the Falcons on his back and carried them all season long. He was finally rewarded with NFL MVP and rightfully so as he beat out his counterpart in Super Bowl 51 Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. He looking to accomplish a rare feat by defeating 3 super bowl-winning quarterbacks in one postseason.

Ryan finished the regular season with a 117.1 QBR as he threw for 4,944 yards with 38 touchdowns to only 7 interceptions.

Ryan led the Falcons top ranked offense to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1998

Matty Ice came into 2016 with a point to prove as he struggled last season in Kyle Shanahan's offense and thoughts were (even me) that he may have reached his ceiling in Atlanta, but Ryan worked hard in the offseason with Shanahan to fix the playbook to fit Ryan's strengths. He showed change in his deep ball and reading the opposing defenses, while leading Atlanta to the league's top scoring offense and one of the most prolific in NFL history. He would be the first QB since Kurt Warner in 1999 to win league MVP and a Super Bowl title.

This season has solidified him as the greatest quarterback in franchise history and will change his status in the NFL as well with a Lombardi trophy.

Congratulations Matt Ryan on a phenomenal season!
