Leandre Van Zyl's Winning Streak on His First Try

Leandre Van Zyl’s Bodybuilding career has been colourful considering that he only started it in 2016. Today, his journey is landmarked by titles such as placing first in NABBA/WFF Gauteng Provincials in the Male Sports Model U/23 Category.

His journey into body building was not planned at all. “I never wanted to compete as such,” said Van Zyl. He said that he just enjoyed training until one day his head coach, Jacques van der Linde, together with his trainer, Wessel Koekemoer, convinced him to try out a provincial show. This became a huge turnaround for his journey.

Later in 2016 after taking chances with the Gauteng Provincial competition, Van Zyl went on to place second at the NABBA/WFF SA Championships in the Male Sports Model Category. “I wasn’t very happy with second place but still it was only my second competition ever,” he said.

This led to him qualifying for the WFF World Championships in Ireland. Still disappointed with his second place at the NABBA/WFF SA Championships, the bodybuilder decided to put all his focus on Dublin. His hard work paid off. “I won the Male Sports Model Category and won the world Championship in my third competition ever,” said Van Zyl.

Van Zyl will be competing in Rio Brazil in June this year and is looking for sponsors. Those looking to sponsor him can email [email protected].
